Cross bolts are on the outside of the block. Check the rave for diagram.

Need a bit of help. Went over the work with my mechanic. We cannot side the cross bolts. We searched everywhere. Any tips?

Under the starter and CPS, one allen head bolt each side

I feel like we are going crazy. We looked several times and cannot find the side bolts.

I looked closely with the pictures provided. This is a 3.9L 1991 rrc. Is it possible it is different on certain engines.

the car has been on the mechanic lift for a few days and he is not pleased with me. He tells me his manual says the only way to do this is to drop the transmission again.

you're posting in the DII section, FYI. regardless, it should be the same.

It is strange. The whole block looks the same but I don’t see that.

Thanks again guys. Still working on it. I found out that maybe some of the rapier blocks didn’t have the cross bolts. I hope this is correct. Fingers crossed.

Definitely not there, lookinng at the Rave it appears the earlier engines did not have the cross bolts. You should be able to remove the main cap bolts, put the bolts in the cap holes and squeeze the two bolts together, wiggle the cap.

My 94 3.9 does not have cross bolts. The 96 4.0 does. They help stiffen up the block for higher power output engines.
