Mollusc makes a good point about ensuring the replacement hose is up to the task.
The setting is for the gap or slack in the system before the cruise control lever engages the throttle lever (see below).

Yes, as I wrote above. I'd take a shot with a used pump before paying ~$250 for a new one. There's one listed today on eBay for just a few dollars more than I paid locally (free shipping).
And BTW, I don't drive Redrover often these days, but I had her out for a few hours last Friday. I made a point of testing the cruise control (both SET and RESUME) and it was working well, not lazy at all. Strong responses with the used replacement pump.
The pumps rarely fail. There is no point in buying another one "just in case."
The book specs for the cable gap are also rather large. I typically run with a gap of 1 to 1.5mm.
The new hose has to have reinforced walls. You should not be able to squash it.
Hello all, I was on a vacation and could not update the status much. I had the time to test the cruise on highway, and I have saved a video as well which I can share.
I ordered a new hose to begin with but right now what happens is that either car holds it or does not hold it. But this depends on the pressure I give to the throttle when I click set button.
If I am pressing with not much pressure to the throttle it won't hold, but if I push down the throttle a bit and pull the set button basically one or two times mainly two three times it does hold. Also I started to believe being in the sport mode works better than without it. My cancel button does also work.
When I come up to a hill it does loose the speed from 100km/h to 80km/h even lets say. But on the straight its fairly okayish and does hold 100/120km/h or 80km/h but time to time a bit weak I can say. Thats why I ordered a new hose up to the standard to test
By cable you mean the throttle cable? I will check that too, I could not had the time.
The hose I have ordered has arrived and will change it. And I noticed the hose that I have now is longer than what I have ordered to the specifications.
Most probably these two will solve my issue as cruise works but is weak.
There are two cables, one for throttle and one for cruise. They both need to be adjusted correctly, but the cruise cable will prevent the speed control from surging and trailing. In my experience this is not a critical dimension, you just want a very small air gap between the actuator cam and the throttle plate lever.
