Curious about dedicated winter tires

Have an '03, ran 16" KO2 for a long time and do a lot of snow driving both on and off road. The KO2s are good with forward grip and turning grip, but not good with braking on ice or compact snow and ice. Once a year, I would remind myself of the snow performce with braking taking longer than expected. I do lower PSI ahead of going to really snowny & icy areas.

Put on a set of KO3s, and their performance is better. They have much better wet traction than the KO2s, better overall ride quality, and better snow and ice traction all around. KO3s are not as good as dedicated snow tires, but for year around use they are great.

not sure about D2's but D1's came with Michelin Winter rated tires when new (still have new / original spare) so I keep winter-snow rated tires on all the time (they are not the same as MUD) tires with huge knobby tread
