how are you going to restore your back pressure back if you remove your cats. Back pressure is on of the biggest thinks taken into consideration when design an exhaust system. you will most likely lose lower end torqure if you cant account for it.

There is nothing quite like a bunch of people pretending to be engineers trying decide which old myth they believe to be true trying to compel others as to why they shouldn't do what has already been done.

There was in fact no Damage done. There was in fact no loss of power. There was in fact a ever so slight increase in mileage. There was in fact an increase in an appealing exhaust note. Beyond that, I suppose the rest will be up to mythical debate.

For a vehicle with debatable poor design and enthusiast love abound, its comical to see such debate as to stay with the stock parts that were designed by engineers that are so prone to failure and spendy price tags for replacement, have so many people line up blindly to buy them again. Surely there are wearable parts that justly can be replaced with stock components. However some things surely just as well have room for improvement.

Maybe we should outlaw the aftermarket part market all together.

Dpaller!! I agree about some things being poor design and if someone can make a aftermarket part better and not a b.s price I'm game. but I don't think anyone's trying to be a pretend engineer. Just trying to help each other out and find out what works and what doesn't. I understand what your saying there are people that think they know it all and that's a big mistake on there part. But Your saying things got better so i'm I guessing it depends on the the brand, size how it was run, ext..... iv'e read good and bad's about performance exhaust but mostly bad. Also there are two sides to ever coin right.. so you might gain something but I would bet your losings something also. You only stated what stayed the same. what about things that got worse? Like i said before if you find something that is better than OEM I would like to know so I can get it.

I think I’m going through a mid life crisis and want more of a growl out of my 4.0L V8.
Anyone else running a cherry bomb, Magnaflow or Thrush glasspack muffler on their Disco 2?

It sounds good but not very loud. I’d love a cherry bomb. Perhaps after the motor swap. There’s a guy in my Facebook rover group with full length headers and 2 cherry bombs with turn downs. Sounds awesome

I ran a hand full of different setups with cherry bombs. They were ok, I didn't love them Flowmaster sounded better, but droned. Had a magnaflow knock off that I hated, but that was with long tube headers which changed the sound a ton. My favorite muffler I ever had on the truck was a Borla Pro XS with Magnaflow cats. I ran that for a long time and it sounded awesome with little drone (at least, to my highschool ears?)

I cant even remember what else I've run on the truck. I've had a bunch of exhaust setups on it.
