Question Cylinder 1 and 6 misfiring.. Help

This truck is running rough (skipping) and the codes are indicating a misfire in Cylinders 1 and 6.. So we put a timing light to the wires to check if its fouled plugs, but the misfire is in the wires.. The code I have is P3401 deactivation of cylinder 1..
What to do?? is this common??

The truck idles ok, but once i'm on the gas, its gutless and runs rough... then the check engine light will start flashing!

I had the same issues and a new MAF fixed it.

With the engine running, I pulled the plug to the MAF and the first time it stayed running but much rougher, then the second time I pulled the plug the engine died immediately..
From what I have gathered, this indicates that the MAF is working..
Thoughts??

Replaced what wires?? I did plug the MAF sensor back up..
The one time I unplugged it, it did chug but stayed running. The second time it died instantly so im assuming the MAF is ok..
I will run an electric reader test on it to see what volts I get

He's talking about the wires where the misfires are as you mentioned in your first post.

Question

Oh the spark plug wires?? I haven't because they are not old and the truck was running fine.. Then this situation happened.. So I doubt spark plug wires considering 2 cylinders started misfiring at the same time.
But process of elimination might lead to something..

How does one change spark plug wires when the distributor is buried behind the engine??
