D1 owner needs help with beater car...
Parents donated 79 Lincoln coupe to sell for my sons car fund. It has been sitting for several years. In prep for driving it home 100 miles, we change the oil, flush the coolant system, check the tires and drive it most of the way home, stopping for a bladder break. It ran great driving home and all of the lights, turn signales etc. worked. When I come out of store and try to start it, there is no power. It is like there is no battery (which is brand new). I checked the fuses under the dash and all check out. The battery is fully charged.
Any ideas from the gearheads?

I had a Corvette that liked to do that at the most inoportune times, after months of frustration, I stumbled upon a corroded fusible link from the positive terminal of the battery, apparently it fed ( or didn't ) the entire electrical system......., this thing was encased in rubber ...to keep it from getting corroded, replaced it with a piece of wire....prob fixed . good luck !!
thats what I was thinking! so can we get some pics of this beast?
that sounds like a perfect first car, not only is it a beater but it is also pretty easy to work on (which is a great learning tool for any young man), and it is big and solid (which means it should be pretty safe)

I will post some pics. This beast has a factory 8 track stereo with built in CB radio. The old woman that owned it died and left it to her church which sold it to my mom. It even had a bunch of 8 track tapes - Niel Diamond, Buck Owens Merle Hagard and Hank Williams. It is old school with the 12 foot long hood and a 460 V8. I am checking the fusible links today after it warms up some.
what do you want for it? I built a 71 Grand Prix and I miss it. I had Richard Pryor and Kenny Rogers on 8 track. I even bought a tape converter you could plug into the 8 track. I loved that thing. You could watch the fuel gauge drop while cruising at 90. 7 foot hood and a built 455...
