Default D1 roofrack onto D2?

Will a "stock" roof rack on a D1 fit a D2? Silly question, but there's an ad on my local CL and I'll take just the rack if it'll fit on my truck.

Yes it will fit, it will just be 6" to short.

How do they attach? Straps and metal hooks on the lip of the top like most? If that's the case I can be 6" short in front or back or split the difference, right?

Assuming it is a Safety Devices roof rack...it attaches to the rain gutter by clamps.
Yes you can split the difference.

It should stop right at rear end of the alpine windows. Some people prefer it as it allows for a nice resting place for you knee when your climbing up and down.
Be sure it is not the low profile version, as it may not fit.

Do you have a picture of the rack?

No, I don't. There's some ads I've seen on Craigslist with Brush Guards and Roofracks on Discos and I always email them and ask, "How much for just the...?" There's also a buy here/pay here place just up the street from my office that has 2 DIs on the lot, both with roofracks, so I may call them.

I don't do offroading at all, but I'm looking for a roof rack and back door ladder for when we go camping.

Where are you located? Just wondering because I never ever see racks around here.

Delaware. The ones on the discos at the lot looked standard to me. Hard to describe I guess but I didn't think to take pictures.

I just email folks selling stuff to see what they'd be willing to part with, especially if there ad says something like "Need to sell asap" or whatever. I can give them some quick cash and I can get something used rather than have to pay to ship it or get a new one.

Well, that's the plan at least. Still waiting for my perfect roof rack.

You could probably buy the whole truck, strip the rack and sell the truck for a free rack.
