I don't post a lot of D1 stuff because both of mine are just hanging in there without any issues. My D2's are good as well. I might do a front cover gasket on my 99 D2, along with some valve cover gaskets when I get around to it, but thats about it.

I have a 99’ D1 and an 04’ D2. When I have to switch between working on them I bounce back and forth in the forums.

There is a 95 d1 in my area 30k original miles for 12 k. I’ve only had d2 never drove a d1 and not a fan of the back end I think it’s the lights that hang to low or something.
how does the drive comfort vs d2 compare ? Inside they look similar except the hvac controls.

The back end, specifically the departure angle, I think is the one advantage that a D1 has over a D2.

Yep D1 does not have the D2 J-Lo booty for sure! The tail lights don't bother me, ride wise = exactly like a RRC. I love my 95 D1 as it's super simple and it puts a smile on my face each time I drive it or look at it.

Seats are a different style so that comfort depends on the individual person. Also the windshield isn't as tall so taller folks might have issues seeing out unless the seat bottom support is blown out then it's all good lol.

There just aren't many daily driving them for one and also there just aren't many DI's left to buy. DII's are still available and make the blogs but DI's..nada.

We're still here though. Mine is in a barn collecting dust until we get a house in the coming months. I'll drive it more once that happens.

Also is the d1 not the distributor rotor points style ? Last time I set up timing was in my old 74 corvette. Still have a couple timing guns around somewhere.

how about the thermostat on these vs D2 ? Same issues with it ruining hot with the oem stat ?

if that 95 D1 has 30K original miles and no rust might be worth jumping on - especially no sun roofs - post some pictures - talk to the owner about maintenance

'96 on was the GEMS engines, so no distributor with points.

and D1s did not have the overheating issues that D2s can have. my '96 stayed nice and cool even in the summer with the AirCon going.

D1s had old school thermostats right up front on the top of the motor and were easy to get to and change out when needed.
