D2 brushguard to a D1?

Got a 2000 with a brushguard that I'd like to remove for a buddy - can this be easily fitted to the D1 ('97)? He's got a welding shop, if necessary.

Not sure if it is a direct fit, but if he has a shop and a welder I am sure you can make it work. Let us know how it goes.

The D2 is wider and won't fit. The frame is wider so you can't bold it to it.
