I have an opportunity to get a decent D2 bumper with brush guard that is currently installed on a D1. I would install it on my 2001 D2.

Does a D2 bumper/brush guard bolt on to a D1 without modification? If the bumper has been modified/cut/etc. to fit the D1, then I'll pass. It's couple hours away, so I'm checking if it's worth the trip.

mounting points are the same but unsure if the owner has modified things further to fit his D1 better. I know aftermarket steel bumpers are interchangeable between classics, D1 and D2.

 

I asked this question not too long ago. General consensus was that they are compatible but might require a little bit of trimming, etc to make a good fit.

 

Trimming of the bumper? Or trimming of the D1 grill/etc?

A D2 bumper will go onto a D1. You might just have to modify the bumper mounts (some have angled pieces for the D2 which a D1 does not have) Just depends on the bumper. I am running a D2 TJM bumper on my 95 D1 and I just bolted it on. My 99 D2 is then running an ARB off of a D1 with minor mods.
