Default D2 ECU waterproofing

has any D2 owner sealed up their ECU? if so what did you use? I was thinking about using a conformal coating silicone. Anyone have anything else they think is better?

I've thought about this. I had the ECM and BCU out on my 99, and the ECM wouldn't be too bad to seal up, but the BCU is full of holes. There'd be as much silicone as there would be plastic. But that's probably ok.

If you do it, take pictures.

I'm still not done. I replaced them both to get the thing to run, and now I'm just slowly working on all the little things so I can either drive it or sell it. I think my problems were caused by sun roof leaks, so I need to check that out too. Currently I've got a misfire that's more important, because the thing is parked inside. I've just been too busy with work to work on it much. After replacing the BCU, my keyless remote stopped working of course, but just last week a kind soul on this forum got me the code from land rover.

the ECM you didnt have to do anything? just replace it? the odometer is blinking now? thinkin about pickin up a d2. the lady told me her mechanic told her the ECM needed to be replaced. i think it may be something else much cheaper but you never know. how much did you pay for the ECM?

I bought both the ECM and BCU out of the same "you pick it" 2000 disco. This way I knew they'd be sync'ed. The ODO did flash, but I was able to turn that off with the hawkeye. I paid $75 each, which might be high, might be low, but they were local so I felt good about it.

did the hawkeye then tell the ecm to adjust the odo to the correct mileage? or the ecu and bcm were then synced with the odo current mileage? just curious becuase i had to change consoles because the idiot PO broke the 3 amigo LED's off... the hawkeye would be an expensive fix but at least i would know there is a way to do it. the dealer said the only way to do it is to buy a new console because the t4 can't do it with a console that has mileage recorded on it, it's a way of protecting people from turning back the odometer.

Well the hawkeye just turns off the check, it doesn't actually sync anything. If I turn the check back on, it blinks again. But the dealer should be able to sync used stuff... I think it defaults to the BCU, or maybe it was if uses the item with the highest mileage was what some of the people that have used it were saying.
Anyway, I think someone was saying the mileage was in the BCU, not the ECM, so that you can swap the ECM and not have a blinking ODO. I think.
