Default D2 Four inch lift recommendations

I am adding a significant amount of weight to the rear of my D2 and am also compromising a fair amount of ground clearance by adding an RTE steel rear bumper with four jerry cans as well as a 160L replacement fuel tank. I would like to buy the kit as well as the ancillary products from one vendor. Quality is the primary consideration. Price matters but only in the sense that if paying substantially more, that price difference needs to be fully supported by a solid quality argument.

Again, the additional lift is really necessary to get the primary fuel talk up and off the ground again. The springs need to be very heavy duty to combat potential issues with sagging and swaying. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Pretty sure RTE is the only vendor that offers everything you are looking for in one package.

Default I

I can’t tell. I think both RTE and Terrafirma both do although what I have been reading about quality issues is driving me more and more towards RTE. I started by looking at RTE and then stumbled on the Terrafirma option. They both offer packages that seem to include the same needed components but I’m a lot happier with what I have read about RTE. A smaller company with better attention to detail makes a lot more sense. The price difference is significant, however, and so I want to hear people’s experience with both brands. This vehicle needs to do a lot more than look cool in the mall parking lot so I’m not concerned about the price as long as it is tethered to quality. I’m confident it is but am simply doing my due diligence.

I would call RTE and talk to Simon. Love the 3" springs I have from him. I would not utter TF quality in the same sentence as RTE, RTE is simply in another class. Simon will be able to help get you set up for your weight requirements vs just a boxed solution and you will never have to worry about bending or breaking his cranked radius arms they are super beefy.

Heavy loads may be an issue, with RTE Springs

Army Rover: I read this as well. I think it may be an anomaly. Spoke with Simon at RTE and he seems very knowledgeable and seems to understand exactly what I’m looking for. I trust he can manufacture springs of sufficient stiffness and durability to meet my needs. I was surprised to see the TF set so much less expensive than RTEs but the overwhelming majority of what I have read supports going in that direction. Admittedly, there are one or two exceptions but I have a lot more confidence in RTEs setup overall. Simon is a good guy and I don’t believe he would misstate his products. Quite the opposite, it is difficult to get him to draw distinctions between his and other products. I disagree with him on this but respect his position. I posted this more for confirmation than anything else.

Never had an issue with heavy loads with RTE and I’ve had two sets, one 2” and one 3”. I can speak to the quality of the coating that RTE uses as well. After I swapped the 2” set for 3” I sold the 2” for nearly what I paid for them, I mean within $25. I just hosed them down and wiped them off, THEY LOOKED BRAND NEW. And that was after 3 years of riding in them.

I can’t say the same with the TF coils I’ve seen. Almost all look terrible after a while.

Funny, Jeff was the first person l thought of when l read this topic the other day. Miss seeing him on here, he was always trying something interesting with his Dll.

Personally, 3" just looks right on a Dll and you don't have to get into the expensive stuff. Anyhow, good luck with your endeavor.

I'm trying to decide between a 3" and 4" lift. My main priority is being able to fit 33 inch tires (either 255/85r16 or 285/75r16). Will a 3" lift be able to fit these tire sizes without trimming or excessive rubbing? Also what will need replaced for a 4" lift that doesn't need replaced for a 3" lift?

I run 3” RTE coils with 275/70-18’s 33” BUT I also have an ARB bumper. Plenty of clearance with that.
