Default D2 lift / tire question....

My D2 just got a budgeted gift from my awesome wife. The shocks are needing replaced and the steering stabilizer will get replaced as well. The truck has new SLS bags and I like the system on it. It also has a working ACE system.

I would like to replace the tired front springs, shocks, steering stabilizer, and the tires will need replaced within a year.

So.... how about a 2 inch lift with Terra Firma springs, shocks, rear bag spacers?

I would like to keep the 18 inch wheels (I know, this would be easier and more advised with the 16's, but I like the 18's.) Looking a replacing the 255 55's with 265 65's.

Looks like the overall lift on the top of the truck will be about 3.5 inches.

Now the question.... Any one who has done this, is there enough clearance in a standard American garage door opening to still park this inside? I would not like to tell the wife it would not fit after doing all this work. Yikes!

Also, any advice on all terrain tires in the 265 65 18 size? I'm leaning toward the BFG's because I can get them at Costco.

Thanks!!!

Normally you can get a D2 with near 3" lift and 265/75/16's or a 32" tire into to a garage.

there are 2 standard overhead door heights 7' and 8', most builds go with 7'h. had similar set up for a couple of years +2 and 32" tires, but with a roof rack. no go in the 7 but still fits fine under my 8' and its a little taller now. check the height top of drip lip that will vary from slab to slab, but usually adjustments can be made to get more travel from your o.h.d.

I do not have a roof rack, just the factory rails on the front. Pretty sure the door is a 7 ft, not an 8. I'll have to measure this evening. The driveway slops up to the door, so backing in might have an issue.

Thanks guys!

Couldn't resist checking. Yes, the garage door is 7 ft. So, without a roof rack, it should fit?

Thanks, David

good deal. It was going to suck asking your wife to air your tires back up to pressure every morning as you pulled out of garage. and probably try not to accidentally bump that "raise it up" button, on the way in

Dusty, I'm confused, sounds like it will not fit?

I should just spend some time measuring how much space I have to play with.

Mike, is this with a 7 foot door? Sounds like the 8 foot door is a sure thing, I have a 7 foot door.

Thanks, David

Oh, I found the part of having my wife air the tires up when I left funny. Pretty sure she would not let me have more toy budget in the near future, though. Ha, ha.

I already get nervous about the rear lift button. Not sure how I could get the truck out of the garage if it went up in there.

Thanks for the help!
