Default D2 main headlight beams

Has anyone upgraded their main headlight beams? Mine seem a little dull compared to new SUV's.My headlight glass is squeaky clean, bulbs are clean. So dirt is not an issue. Nor is the alternator or battery.Just want to know how to keep up with the "jonses".

Have you properly aimed them? That made a huge difference for me.

The difference between HID and LED on the newer vehicles, and the filament type lamps on our trucks is most of the problem. The color temps are different therefore ours look more yellow and the light doesn’t appear as clean. One option is to upgrade the stock H7 55w lamps to a higher wattage, however this is easier said than done. I haven’t been able to find anything comparable to the 100w H1s I use in my other cars. It might be possible to modify the connector and use an 80/100 H4. I haven’t got them in front of me but the base may fit.

I've been extremely happy with a set of Auxbeam H4 Eagles. The fan is mounted inside the LED Bulb housing vs most which are located behind it. Making it fit exactly like OEM. The low beam is excellent and unlike most LED Hi/lo kits the high beam does actually change the angle of the beam. I highly recommend them on any 94-02 D1/D2

My understanding is that the 03/04 Discos use a pair of H7 per side, you get one per side on lo and two per side on hi. There doesn’t seem to be any wiring to support the hi/lo function of the H4, so far as I remember when I looked into this. I don’t know about early D2, I think that uses a dual filament H4 lamp.

On my '01 D2 I've had H4 LED bulbs for the past 2 years and they are BRIGHT!
I don't remember where I got them from. I think I was watching a Youtube video and someone did a review on them and I ordered them.

I have a truck with HID retrofit bulbs, the color is definitely different, not really sure if they throw any further.

in 03-04 headlights you could retrofit HID projectors, if you have those style headlights that would be my vote.

Thanks for the recommendation! Do you happen to have any comparison pics showing what these look like?
