Default D2 non heated windshield

Anybody know what I should expect to pay for a new windshield, installed? I believe there are moldings that need to be purchased plus the price of install. I'm looking at an 03' that has a huge crack(Although with an 03' the windshield is probably the least of my worries!)

Thanks

I had the windshield replaced on our '04 about a year and half ago. Don't remember the name of the place now, but my insurance company recommended them. It's the company they used (at the time) for insurance claims. I believe it was around $375 to have it done.

After replacing one of the pillar trims a few weeks ago, it looked like they broke the tabs on them and jb welded them back on to make them work. They have to be careful with those things... brittle plastic.

Had the window replaced on my 2000 D2 last year. I do not have comprehensive insurance so a new heated window would have been $850 installed. I bought the non heated and had it installed for $400. The moulding were not and extra charge. After driving for a year with the non heated I must say...no frigging difference at all.

I had mine replaced under my insurance policy last year (4/13) - I requested the OptiKool heated (OEM) and paid my $100 deductible.
Without insurance, the invoice was $1200 for the screen

$1200! Wow. I found a guy with one on a car, he says he has successfully removed one before using MIG wire and a painters 5 way scraper tool. He wants $100, but I think for he time and having a used windshield I will go for new aftermarket.

Thank you for all of the feedback.

I had mine replaced about 5 years ago in the UK by a main LR stealership. I wanted it done by them as it was an insurance job and wanted a genuine OE Pilkington Optikool heated windshield. The bill to the insurers was circa £450 of which I paid the excess of £50. I don't know how much on today's prices though.

Quick question about heated windshield, where are the connecting wires for the heat??? My windshield has the tiny heated mesh wire inside the glass, but did not work this winter. Is it hidden behind the windshield pillars??? my front heated glass light comes on when I push the button but does not melt away the ice.

Any suggestion on how to fix this? Thanks

not hidden. plugs are on each side at the base of the screen, under hood, on the ledge/gutter between screen and air filter.
