Dang Headliner...again
#12
I used the Herculiner truck bed liner kit from Advance. The smell wasn't to bad after a couple days, but the texture and look are awesome.

Spray or roll on? I've currently got mine out and stripped. I'm leaning to Herculiner but was considering painting it instead to have a better range of colors. How much did you use and how many coats? Pics?

To follow up...the larger diameter screws worked great. However, I rushed it a bit and broke through the plastic in the overhead console. It just so happened that the two I broke were the middle two closest to the windshield. So there's an approximate 1/4 inch gap between the headliner and the overhead console. Doesn't look terrible. Bugged the crap out of me at first, but I'm happy with the fact that I did it myself and the fact that it's an old, imperfect truck.
I used the Rustoleum roll on and rustoleum primer. 2-3 rattle cans of primer will do. And I did two coats plus some touch ups and had more than a half gallon to spare. (My local store only had gallons). I let it sit for about 36 hours before installing. Mostly because of the smell. It dried in about 4-5. Was strong at first but after a few days it's gone. Overall, I'm stoked. Love the look.
The he only thing I would do differently is have PATIENCE. I was in such a rush to start and finish the project I broke both visor clips and drove the two screws through the plastic.
Good luck. Definitely a fun and gratifying project.
