Default Dash board problem

Hi,

I'm new to this board and am looking to buy an '04 Disco. One Disco that I am considering buying has a problem with the dash as seen in the pictures. The dash is "peeling" up on both the right and left sides.

It appears this is an easy fix -- but I wanted to ask and get your thoughts.

Thanks,
Jon

find out how much it is to replace the dash pad and deduct it from the asking price.

Update -- The LR dealership mentioned that a "warped" dash is not an uncommon thing. They offered 2 solutions:

1) Replace the dash ($1000)
2) Install a dash kit (apparently this is a kit specifically made for the warped dash problem - $100).

I think I'll opt for #2 if I buy this vehicle...

Or, you can take your time, using a heat gun and slowly heat and re-conture the warped section.
How much are they asking for the 04?

Default Another option

There are commercially available "dash covers" that would mask this problem. I personally don't like the look, but you should take a look and see if they work for you.

Good luck!

There is a kit out there to fix the problem, Land Rover Parts & Rover Accessories From Atlantic British | Discovery, Range Rover, LR3, LR2, Defender, Freelander and Land Rover Series Parts & Accessories sells them although I cannot find the kit on their web site.
Call them, they have it, under $100.

My Disco is doing the same thing! That sure seems like a chintzy solution to be offered as an OEM repair..... Just saying.

Disco Mike -- it is an '04 Westminster with 47k miles on it. Asking price is $13,250 -- but I haven't done any negotiating yet...

you are just looking at this truck correct, it is the dealers responcibilty to repair the dash correctly, he isnt exactly giving the truck away. I dont see a lot of people line up to buy trucks that cost you 100 a week to fil in my area and we need 4x4.
if he isnt going to replace the dash correctly what makes you think he is going to do any better servicing the truck before he gives it to you. if hes going to hide something as simple as a dash pad whatelse is he willing to hide that you cant see.
Find an 04 with 80-90k that has already had headgaskets and a driveshaft done and save yourself 4-5k.
