Sigh.

Why do a battery load test, whatever that is (alternator load test?).

Why not just try adjusting the XYZ as described?

good morning, I will try yer adjustment. But it is also mentioned to rule out any electrical issues. So that was my goal. I am not The most mechanically inclined person so I’m going to leave the XYZ a judgement for the last

Uh, the XYZ adjustment IS addressing an electrical issue.

*** UPDATE ***

From my experience the MS light flashing so far has only happened to me on cool morning starts and always goes back to normal after the car is warmed up and I restart after a brisk drive. I am thinking for this reason that it’s a voltage issue but the battery did check out OK please have a read below

my battery is called econo power. Came with the truck and is a year old

I tested the battery and it reads 12.8 with the engine off and with the car running it’s 13.5I also took it to the local parts store and did a load test. We could not read the cold cranking number on the battery so we did three tests750 cc pass
800 cc pass
900 cc fail
therefore if the motor requires 900 cold cranking amp’s that would be the reason why

i also Tried to adjust the XYZ switch with the help of a friend. I was only able to loosen up one of the bolts the other one will not loosen up and I was afraid to pull on it too much. However I was able to move it around and get the N to show on the dashboard and also on the gearshift handle intermittently. Currently it’s better than it was before. When I shift into neutral N still does not show but if I nudge the gearshifter forward very slightly it will show both on the gearshift her and on the dashboard. So I believe it is a matter of adjusting but as I mentioned I’m afraid to try and loosen one of the bolts so I’m gonna take my time and spray it daily with some penetrating oil before I try again

I also did get the error code red when the M plus S was flashing. We use my friends generic code reader. The error code is P0748 along with the following msg. “Generic pressure control solenoid A electrical”

I also got the code red when the HDC light was on. But guess what no error codes were coming up. So it seems that one just pops on with no error code. My first main goal is to fix the flashing MS so that I don’t get stuck in third gear There you have it that’s the information I have so far. Any advice is always appreciated and thank you in advance

Try spraying a penetrating oil like PB Blaster (not WD40) on the bolt that wouldn't budge. Let it sit awhile and try it again. Repeat the process until it comes loose. It may even take a few days. Then try again to adjust the switch.

Besides loosening the 2 bolts which hold the XYZ switch into place you can also take a bit of slack out of the shift cable itself. You just loosen the 13mm nut which secures the shift cable to the XYZ switch and just pull it like 1-2mm tighter. Sometimes that's all it takes to make it happy.

Will this also tighten up my gear selector? Because I noticed when I am in drive the hand gear selector I can wiggle back-and-forth about a quarter inch
