Default Defective TF shocks only about 6-8k miles

Good day gentlemen,

I purchased the medium duty Terra Firma 2'' lift from Lucky 8 back in 2014... My D2 is a project truck and more of a hobby than anything, gets to go out on Sundays provided it's nice out and spends it's cold Canadian winters in storage.

Since installation my D2 has been plagued with problems and hasn't seen much road.

Long of the story is that my front shocks are leaking and TF says they are out of warranty. My argument has been that they must be defective given the little they have driven. Waiting to hear back from Lucky8 to see if they offer me any kind of good will. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about your problem with TF. But I can't say I'm surprised when a TF product FAILS... Sounds Right!

At least you got the parts from L8 and IF there is anyway to make this right for you...they will try.
In the future....AVOID the Kool-Aid!

The sad part is when I first called in to purchase these I wanted to order OME kit and Justin talked me out of it. Not blaming him in anyway as I totally respect their business and up until now was very happy with his recommendation, just hope they can offer some help. Canadian$ isn't too hot and shipping is always nuts cross border.

Why did he talk you out of the OME shocks?

Let not get carried away here and say that it's anyone's fault that I don't have OME and lets not forget that this was in 2014 so my memory may not be as clear as it was... I want to make sure that by no means am I mad or upset with Lucky 8 or Justin cause I think they run a great business and offer us great support and help.

If my memory serves me right I went with the TF as Justin thought they were a much better value for money and the quality of construction seemed to be on par. At the end of the day he saved me money so I spend the money I saved on a new rear driveshaft with roto flex delete and over sized spare tire carrier adapter.

Regardless what happens, it won't change my opinion of this business as I know that they are a good operator but it will change my opinion on TF product.

Worse set of shocks I ever owned was a set of OME Shocks.... Second place would be Skyjacker with the same situation. Bushings fell to pieces in just a few months, then they started leaking. I've had Monroe to Fox, and sometimes ya just get a bad shock.

Did terrafirma come out with their "new" shocks since 2014? The one with the blue, plastic dust shield, as apposed to the silver metal one.

Interesting. It's odd to me that the TF's were recommended over the OME as I've never heard anything good about the terrafirma but generally positive reviews on the OME.

Now I'm really wondering if there are any decent shock options outside of FOX. Bilsteins have always seemed rather equivalent to the OME in reviews and Noone in the U.S. is running supergaz so no good reviews there...

Bilstein needs to offer the 5100 for D2's! I love those shocks. I've had several sets of TF shocks and I had good results with them and their bushings.
