Default Dented front diff cover

It happened, I dented the front cover on my front diff. Must get diff guards...
It is not dented enough to touch the crown, I pulled the diff out to check, there is no shiny spot on the inside so the crown did not rub.
I thought I would bang it out with a hammer, think again. **** I lay into that thing but all I achieved was a headache and sore arms.
What next? Put it back together and forget about it?

if the crown wheel isn't rubbing I wouldn't worry about it.
Lot of option for diff protection. It's not uncommon for the bolt on to get knocked off.
For the ultimate in protection replace the tin cover with a weld on pipe cap.

Battle scars...
I buttoned it all back up and will look at some protection.
@antchrist I've been looking all over for a weld on pipe cap, they seem to be scarce as hell. I was thinking if I can find one I will cut the old one off and weld that on, that 1/4" pipe cap should take some beating. I'll most probably get a shop to do the welding, my welding looks like turkey crap

No rub, no worry. If it bothers you so much that you have to replace contact Bill at Rovertym. He has a wide selection of HD parts.

A pipe cap to fit would have to bought at an industrial pipe supply house.

A couple guys that I wheel with warned me about the diffs, so after good tires, the diff guards and recovery points were my #1 priorities.

One of my other buddies wasn't as lucky as you were...
