Dexcool

Well come this weekend it wont be. Im going to flush the h3ll out of the engine and just go back with regular 50/50 mix coolant. Guys thanks alot for the help and information, not that it will help me with a possible head gasket failure that I may or maynot have. But it gives me a piece of mind knowing its not destroying crap inside my engine anymore.

case reopened...
OAT antifreeze (AKA Dexcool) contains an orange dye to differentiate it from the conventional glycol-based coolants (green or yellow) some Toyotas come with Red coolant which is not to be confused with Dexcool its actually glycol based.
Both coolants are used 50/50.. that is 50% coolant to 50% demineralized water
as stated before.. you must flush thouroughly with water if you plan to switch from OAT to a glycol based coolant.

DexCool is NOT a brand, it is made my Texaco.
It is a 150,000 mile 5 year coolant ONLY if it is properly maintained.
It MUST be Ph balance tested once a year, there are special strips that you can buy to do this.
I do not know how to correct the Ph if it is wrong.
Land Rover recommends flushing your cooling system every 36 months or 45,000 miles, which ever comes first.
Why with a "150k" coolant? Because they know it is junk.
So why use it?
Because it is better for the environment, it is not as toxic as the green stuff.
1 teaspoon of the green stuff will kill a perfectly healthy 200lb man in less than a week.
DexCool will make you very very very sick but odds are it wont kill you.
You know better than to drink it but frogs, fish, turtle's etc. dont. You get in a accident and where does all of your coolant go?
Into the ditch, then the stream, river, lake.
So they use DexCool to offset their CAFE fines for selling gas guzzling SUV's in the US.
