I've got an adjustable wrench on the fan clutch bolt, I'm just not sure what to pry against to keep the entire fan and clutch from spinning because there isn't enough tension on the serpentine belt. I can't seem to get a wrench on the idler bolt either. Does anybody have any tricks to keep it from spinning?

Your DII is a bit different than mine from the looks of the pics!

 

You should be able to do something similar though, see if there are any bolts or holes in the pulley you can connect a simple spanner to.

 

Should be easier for a few people now!

 

BTW - I'm tapping mine to the left, however I'm reading on a few different older posts here that the threads on the viscous fan bolt are reversed. I looked at the new one carefully and it appears I'm loosening it the correct way, can anyone confirm this?

 

You need a Rave CD (in is normal threaded):

NOTE: Nut securing viscous unit to water
pump has a right hand thread. Release by
turning anti-clockwise when viewed from
front of viscous unit.
