For any of you out there that acutally work out of your Truck, this might be of interest..
I often need to carry alot of tools around with me, and as this is my work vehicle, and it is rare to have one passenger, let alone 3, and because I love my Disco and dont want to damage the seats, or carry the entire load behind the rear axle..... I opted for removing the rear seats alltogether and making a Rubber Mat to cover the entire floor.

First I removed the seats, being carefull to spray down the bolts from the underside of the truck with PB Blaster, the last thing you want is to break or strip one, then removed the seats and after cleaning the bolts thouroughly reinstalled them, they will not get lost, nor will I have holes in my floor.
Next I removed the seat belts that are bolted to the floor (leaving the shoulder belts) and replaced those bolts. I then placed the seats in Heavy Duty 3 mil 42 gallon construction bags (the passenger side was a tight fit).

Now we have alot of space to work with....



I used the existing landrover mats as a template for the mat I cut..
Carefully arrange the mats so they are in the correct positions, the rubber rear mat even with the trim package by the rear door, the rear floor mat centered and carefully placed against the lip towards the front of the truck..

Measure the distance between the mats...



This is the mat I used..
Tractor Supply.. $67 plus Tax



Unroll the mat and place the stock rubber mat with the rear edge even with one edge of the new mat, and centered on the new mat..
Then place the floor mat the appropriate distance from rear mat carefull to center it as well. (they are diffrent widths)



Trace around both of these mats.
Now you say, what about the middle part??
The Stock rear mat only covers half of the wheel wells, so you must place the mat in the vehicle backwards and measure to the trim package by the rear door.



then place the Stock mat on the New mat backwards as well, use your tape to position it correctly..



Trace the remainder of the mat.

This is what you will end up with..



It looks better in the Vehicle..





Now when I bought the Rubber Mat, I smelled it and was like.... Hmm is this smell going to bug me??
The answer is YES!!! It is getting better, BUT.. I have no clue at the moment how long the offgassing, or outgassing if you rather will last..
I would have taken it out today, to lay it in the sun for a while, but its got 300 lbs of tools on top of it, its RAINING, and it seems to be getting better..
I will let you know how it works out...

They had a roll of stuff that did not smell, but I didnt get it because it wasnt 'Quite' wide enough.. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought it instead and just dealt with the fact it didnt come all the way to the edge of the door..

And if you do need to carry someone you always have your jump seats.
I didnt know that you had bought a 7 seater.

 

I would rather have cargo space there..
Anyone have the 5 seat trim pieces laying about, I'll buy them off ya!!

That's a really nice looking mat. 2 questions though: how much did that mat cost and would you mind sending me the dimensions on yours? I've been looking to do something similar for a while
