Default Diff plugs

ok here is the deal i looked at the brass 14$ plugs nice but spendy. Does anyone KNOW if the threads are sae or metric ? does anyone know the size ? my plan is to use std pipe plugs my cost like 39 cents if they are sae. can anyone help ? i really preferr to not chisile mine out and then find out they are not sae

I dont know, I do know that the DI diff plugs are the same as the DII diff plugs, except they are brass and not cheap plastic like on the DII.

thanks spike i am looking to cheep out on this for a while maybe buy the brass ones someday. this thing is needy and i am trying to defray anything i can for now but i cant get in my front or rear diffs. so i need to bust the plugs ( or i am shure i will )

Make the one time investment and buy these. They're magnetic and will pick up any metal shavings in your diff.

Check the local salvage yards for junked DI's.
Take your drain plug to the parts store and try to match one up, the drain plug is the same as the fill plug.

If you are talking about replacing your plastic fill plugs:

I used these:
Radiator Brass Plug Ref: ERR4686B
RovahFarm for all your new Land Rover Parts and Accessories

from Rovahfarm. they are $3.99 each. the o-rings are a separate item.

Actually they aren't. Different sizes.

thanks for all the replys if i can ever find dicos in the yards here i will pull them. i made my one time investment i paid cash for my rover and my parts budget is almost bust. for now so does anyone know what threades these suckers are ?

So these radiator fill plugs work in the D2 diff fill plug holes?
