The unbreakable Disco. I was muding one day and i got royally stuck. After braking 2 tow straps I decide to call a 4X4 tow truck. When it gets there we try winching from the back. That dosen't work so we move to the front and thats where it all happens watch the video and it explanes every thing. And the tow truck is packing a 12000lb warn winch...

However, some well know recovery "rules" broken there !!.
After 2 or 3 attempts with the winch, a ****** recovery would have probably been better and towing out the stuck vehicle the way it went in.... instead of trying to pull it "through" the obstacle.

Also when there is 2 trucks and the first is trying to "tug" the second with the winch, thats a big nono !!!... the winch / winch cable is not designed for shock load like that. Obviously it survived and broke the truck, but the cable / winchcould have easily broke.

And I was cringing in my chair [:-]when the large truck was tugging out the other 4x4 and the guy was stood right close to the tow line or chain, that could have been deadly !!!!

Whos footing the bill for the broken tow truck ??

 

When the tow truck was doing the front recovery, it looked pretty close to the Disco. If the winch drum had more line on it (down to the last 6 strands) you will get the full rated pulling power of the winch. The more line on the drum, the less pulling power.

 

Yeah Dangerous Recovery methods there. Glad your ride is out. Poor tow truck....it wasnt even a REAL tow truck though. It was a Ford F 250 or 350 series with a tow rig in the back. It was too light and underpowered for the job.... IMO. But what do I know... =)

 

dont quote me on the recovery style the tow truck driver wanted to do it his way. also it was a f150 and thats what you get when you get FORD!!!

 

I understand bro... those FORD truck 4x4 drivers think they know it all. That was the first thought in my head.... the tow man was doing it "his way".

Did anyone try digging the front tires and axel out a bit before any of the winching attempts?

 

I was wondering that too, and it doesn't look like it.

 

it was completely dug out. The problem comes when the ground is sand and everything you dug out just filled back in but at the end of the video when i get out seconds before i out pulled out we were digging the axles out. Fix Or Repair Daily=FORD
