ok so im thinkin of gettin another discovery...i have a 99 and havent had any problems with it...but im wondering what year i should get...what changes did they make between the 99 and 2000. the car is going to be a daily driver and weekend FS road exploritory vehicle.

 

The way I see it, there weren't that many changes made between the 99 and 00's to warrant selling your 99 to buy another very similiar slightly newer one.
Why do you want out of your 99?

 

I agree with Mike, why do you want to sell your DI?

The major difference is that they are bigger.

 

muzikman, do you currently have a D1 or D2?

 

oh sorry for the confusion...i have a 99 d2 and i want to get another d2 for a second driver and im not sure what the major differences are between the d2's i know the 02 doesnt have diff locks and the 03s ive heard have a bit of an issue with the oil pump

 

The D2 had the CDL up to mid 2001 and then it was brought back for 2004. 99 - early 01 were basically the same vehicle with only minor changes. Late 01-02 had no CDL but otherwise the same as the 99 - early 01. 03 they changed the headlights, tail lights and engine, still no CDL. 04 has the same lights as the 03, the engine problems were corrected and the CDL is reintroduced. That's a real quick run down of the changes I'm aware of in a D2.
