Disco 2 misfire
Hi everyone. new to the forum as I have a 2000 Series 2 SE7. 104k.. Love the thing to death and it drives great untill a couple of days ago, I got the service engine light, I read the code with my accutron scanner and it says ( misfire #5 cylinder) so from what I have read here maybe plug wires?? they are the originals I think.. any hints or tips on changing them? seems like they are buried at the rear of the engine!!!!!!Thanks in advance for any help

Sounds like it is time to get your truck back up to speed.
If you have the grey factory wires, they have to go. The 8 mm Magnacor wires seem to work best over any store bought wires.
If you want help with this get back to me.

like mike said, get some magnacor wires..i think apex.com has the best price..it is a pain to change them..I loosen my intake manifold so I could tighten my valve covers at the same time..took about 4 hours.
thanks for the offer of advice help etc. Yes Mike they are the original grey wires so they will have to go.... and what plugs do you recommend also? I will get some Magnecor wires and go at it... sure I wil need some help guidance on how to change the wires as they look really inacessible!!!!

I just did mine and I found some great step by step instructions on an older post that included nicely highlighted pictures. It took me about 5 hours to do plugs and wires under the fading light of a head lamp without removing the IM. As the other instructions will tell you, a bent screw driver is the key to popping the old ones off. I hope for your sake your hands are about medium size!

i was able to do the total swap of plugs and wires in the dark with a small LED flashlight in about 3 hours. i had to go back in because 2 of the wire leads were not totally snapped in place on the coil pack. that took another 30min.
its not so bad but i have smallish hands. if you have large hands it will be a issue'ish

Or run the well proven and tested Bosch Platinum Plus 4's and save some money.
Our engines are not performance engines, with a good set of wires you will get 55,000 plus volts, more then enough power with out going to the Iridium plugs which only benefit is to give good spark on less voltage.
