Default Disco 2 problems

Ok I have a disco 2 and recently put a cone filter on it and did away with the air box. It is a dry filter so it shouldn't mess with the mass air which is brand new and the 3rd one and this is why I did away with the K&N I should have listened to discomike to start with but already bought the K&N before I knew. Anyhow the rover pulls up a p1884 code which says check handbook but also it pulls up bank 1 and 2 rich every now and then and a misfire on 1-5 cyl everynow and then. I clear the codes and the p1884 comes on about every other day and the other codes usually dont come on but every other week or so but when they come on the rover wont idle good and sometimes back fires out the air filter. Any help would be appreciated.

Yea that was my thoughts and logical thinking but I really didn't want to I liked the power/gas savings but when it runs like crap half the time I guess it's not worth it and I should try to get a refund for the cold air kit if it don't work. I know of a company that sells rover cold air intakes and wondered if they work with the rover well as theys should they are a rover only company and cost around $350. Forgot what brand it was but I was looking at those but I purchased a ebay kit but I don't see how it is any different from an expensive land rover kit.

Have you changed your drive fluids to synthetic yet? You will get more protection with less resistance. I got .5 MPG in town increase.

I would just put stock back in. If it is giving you that much trouble. Also, if something lets more air through, I would think it would have to let more dirt through. ( just my reasoning )

Also, have you changed the fluid in your differentials and transfer case?

What year/how many miles? If you are over 70K, change your O2 sensors. That will give you better MPG.
