Disco 2 quits running
This morning, the Rover died after traveling @ 7 miles on highway, died while waiting for light to change a few min later. We had it towed to a shop down the street, got it off the flatbed, they turned the key and it fired right up. We drove it home 7 miles on the highway and 2 miles stop and go to our house, no problem. After 15 min, tried to start it to go to grocery store, turns over but, again will not start. Fuel pump or crank shaft sensor? How would I check either item? Or could it be something else. It doesn't have any hesitation prior to stalling.
Bad crank sensor. No way to check it, either it works or it doesnt.

When it gets hot it will fail, eventually it will fail completly.

Are you certain, fairly sure. I'd like to make sure before ordering an $80 part that I don't need. I just started it after sitting for @ 1 hour and pulled it into the garage. No problems starting.
I cant be 100% sure from here.
But it is a high failer part for DII's.
When it is acting up you need to check for spark, then for fuel PSI at the fuel rail, then replace the crank sensor when all else is good.

pull it out and take a look at it. If it's covered in shavings, oil or looks heat scorchedI would just replace it. If it's never been replaced I would do it anyways, they tend to fail. They are about $80 at the dealer usually. You can check it if you're good with a volt meter, it should fluctuate if it's working.
Def. the sensor. It's right next to the exhaust and the heat probably causes it to fail from inc electrical resistance. Not sure about the autozone sensor, but that'sa pretty important partto buy cheap, could be good though
