Disco 2 sale price question
Land Rover Discovery II has rusted out frame in rear. The car runs and drives great. Carmax offered me $750 for it. Would it sell for a good amount more privately? Has 172k on it.
Probably not if you're honest with the potential buyer about the rust. $750 to $1000 is probably what a good running parts car is worth. There are rear frame repair sections available, but they aren't cheap.

I'm not sure where you are located, but you might try calling some salvage yards that specialize in Land Rovers. Maybe you'll get close to the $1000. A good running engine is $1000 or more at a junk yard, but most people will probably want less than 170,000 miles.
Or maybe post it on craigslist for $1250 and see if someone needs a parts car of their own.
