Default Disco 2 SE7 rear headrest removal

Hi! Getting ready to redo the headliner on my 2003 SE7 and was wondering how the rear headrests at the very back come off? Anyone done this?

from memory, you have to take out the cover panel above the door first, and i think you have to pull down the edge of the headliner in order to get to the bolts that hold the headrest in place.
one of my headrests was stuck in one position but i don't remember if it was up or down. whichever one it was, it was the wrong one. you need to be able to get to the base of the headrest. i do remember that the removal procedure became pretty obvious as soon as i started looking closely.

I know the rear cover over the base of the headrests has to come off but that's where I'm stumped. I see no rivets or bolts to unscrew. I'm leery of just forcing it by pulling because old plastic cracks so easily. All the other panels are obvious with plastic rivets or screws.

i didn't mean the cover over the base of the headrests. i meant the plastic piece that spans the width of the headliner between the headrests. removing that allows you to pull down the headliner and get a better look at how things are mounted.

That's my question, how do I remove it? Manual says 6 clips. Do I pull straight out or down first then out. Doesn't seem to want to come off and forcing it might break it.

I believe this is the part in question. I saved these pics from when we I was at the wrecker yard a few years ago. Will this help?

Thanks! Looks like I'm not pulling hard enough.

Those clips are monsters. Dont be afraid to pull hard. Also, make sure you are not pulling DOWN on it. The clips go into the metal facing backwards. So you need to pull the panel FORWARD

I just removed mine a few days ago.... I was shocked it didn't break when it finally popped out! I looked at the piece and said "wow, it's not broken" to the wife.
