Cool Disco 2 tow a 32FT camper?

Anyone know the towing capabilities of a 04 D2? I'm looking into getting a older 32ft long camper and was hoping My Disco could handle the load..... really dont want to invest in a second vehicle just to tow the camper, but I'm open to suggestions.

PS: I have absolutely no idea how much these campers weigh, always assumed they were light weight due to the thin walls and cheap flooring...

1996 Thor Chateau Travel Trailer 29'...good cond.

1994 32 foot gulfstream tag-a-long camper

Max is 7700lbs. Hitch may only be rated for 5000lbs though.

7,700lbs is in low range, in high range it is 5,500lbs and 1,650lbs if the trailer does not have brakes.

Well that sucks. Seems pointless to give numbers for low range. Do all manufacturers do that?

Huh?

1.) Not all SUVs that people tow with even HAVE low range.
2.) Why is it pointless? There are plenty of scenarios where you would tow in low range, and knowing the max allowed is far from "pointless."

Where would you tow with low range? My guess would be not on the highway since the top speed will be drastically reduced.

Off road, or around the farm. There are plenty of countries with underdeveloped highways where someone would value the increased capacity in low range.

Not everything on the D2 was built with suburban America in mind.

So is it possible to upgrade the hitch and suspension to better handle the large load? Anything I can do to increase towing capacity? I have no problem using low range on back country roads to haul the camper. Im not looking to lug the camper on a long trip or frequent trips, just want to be able to pick it up and bring it to a permanent spot where it will serve as a 4 season home. So really need a 32 footer.

I guess the only other option is a Pace Arrow, and just tow my Disco on the back of it...
