Default Disco 2K Window Motor/Regulator

Yesterday while rolling down my front passenger side window it stopped about 1/2 way down. I could still here the motor running. I removed the motor and the regulator. Regulator looks brand new and none of the rollers are cracked or damaged in anyway.

I tested the motor and regulator outside of the vehicle and it raised and lowered with no issues. After replacing both back in the door and attaching to the window it still fails to raise or lower the window. I can hear the motor running.

This time I removed the motor and regulator again and also removed the motor from the regulator for inspection. This is what I found.

The gear that runs the regulator was in good shape and had all it's teeth.

My question is, what function does the cracked/broken piece perform and do you think that is the issue with the window not raising or lowering?

I have the same issue, and have seen 'kits' for a repair. What was your outcome?

I purchased a salvaged motor on Ebay for about $40. Worked like a champ.

Appreciate that, I'll go the same route on my D1. Of course after buying a new regulator last week the motor breaks.
