Default Disco Headlights

Hi guys

I have a 2003 LR Disco II SE7 for sale and just has someone stop by to test drive it. When the guy go back he said that while driving down the highway, twice, the headlights went out (he said went black). He said absolute nothing else was affected (electrical). Is this possible or was looking for "excuses"? I've owned the vehicle, problem free for a year and a half with no problems at all.

Ideas??

First, was it dark when he was driving?
If not then there is no way for him to know if the headlights went out or not.
If it was dark then try and duplicate the problem.

Yes he was driving the highway at night. It definitely would have been noticable. Not sure how to duplicate. Like I said I've driven it a lot over the last year with nothing like this happening. I questioned him if he's been playing with the fog light switchs at the time, but he said it "just happened" ?????

Well I would chalk it up to the fact that it was dark and he does not know the controls, he must have hit the light switch or something and turned them off by accident.

Sounds like an idiot, don't sell the truck to him

Could be a bad switch between high/low beams. I've noticed a "sweet spot" when switching from low to high beams right before it clicks that will actually cut power to both for a split second. Maybe this is what he's refering to.

I was thinking about this last night laying in bed, this guy is probally one of those idiots who pulls back on the turn signal stalk when he uses the turn signals.
And just like jdelp said, there is a spot where there is no power to the headlights as you switch between low and high beams.
Call the guy and ask him if he was changing lanes when the headlights went out.
When he says yes then explain to him that he is a moron who does not deserve a Land Rover and that Jeep is offering 0% APR and half off payments for all of 2009 and that would be a better choice for him.
After all, the new Cherokee looks like a DII, kinda.

Yes, it is possible, but did it happen, who is to say??
Why are you letting some one drive your truck and you are not going with him? That is truely a stupid thing for you to be doing. If the lights had acted up you could have verified it, if the truck burned to the ground, who would have been responsible???
Go with each and every person, show them all the features and then let them drive.

x2 what Mike said. You still own the vehicle and you are letting a total stranger drive it without you. You need to be there should anything happen or to explain features about the vehicle. What if he wondered what that small lever does (maybe it engages 4wd?) and threw the t-case into Lo on the highway? Just be careful out there.
