Disco II Fan Clutch Stuck
I've been trying to remove the fan clutch on my 99 Disco II, but I can't get it to budge from the motor. I've tried WD40, a hammer, and about everything else I can think of. Any ideas on how to free it up without having to spend $50 on the 'universal wrench' that www.roverparts.com has for sale to do this? I do have the 36mm wrench, and have been using a kit to remove the fan clutch from a Ford around the three bolts on the motor to keep it from spinning, just can't get the clutch to budge.

Otterguru,
I just removed mine and it was very easy using a fan clutch wrench set that I got at autozone. It is for a ford 4.9 36mm. The threads are right hand
threads which is a normal righty tighty lefty loosy type nut. The backing wrench is used to hold the pully from turning. Just got to get it between the nusts holding the pully. Be advised to not drive if your clutch is bad. I just got through an exploding fan. Damage done was hole in hood. MAF, airbox. upper and lower shroud, powersteering pressure line. thermostat housing. all hoses, oil filter, battery box. and some harnesses. good luck
