I'm going to buy my Dad's '99 Disco II. I asked him if it had air bag suspension and he said "no" -- shocks and springs.

I am unclear on which models came with the airbags and which came with springs.

Also, he mentioned that while under warranty he had the high pressure lines replaced, and that it had something to do with the suspension stability. Isn't that related to the airbags?

SLS, rear air suspension, came on any model that had it as an option, it is not standard on anyone model.
As for the high pressure line that would be for the ACE, that helps keep the truck level when corning. Surprising, ACE and SLS usually came together on the 99 D2's, I have both on mine.

so it might be better for me that it has springs rather than the air bags that so many end up replacing with springs anyway?

Not that many people replace the bags for springs. I have nearly 90,ooo miles on my truck, I just replace the bags with a new set cause one was leaking alittle. i would never drop the air suspension and believe me I have been all over more trails then most people have ever drempted about.
