Default Disco II vs Range Rover

Just curious folks, any benefits vs going with one vs the other when looking at an 00 or an 04?

Have not explored the RR in the detail that I have the Disco.. Similar issues? More or less reliable?

The plan for the vehicle is to be used as a weekend/camping/ light off road duty..

Thanks and Merry Xmas!!

I have heard the early L322 Range Rovers were known for transmission issues. The P38 Range Rovers are known for electrical gremlins and EAS problems. I would suggest the Disco.

I pondered that same imponderable myself... A 99 P38 or a 03 Disco II.

I am picking up my 03 Disco tomorrow.

I just don't like to the looks of the P38, so I would go for a Disco II or a 95 Range Rover.

I have owned both. The RR will have more issues. However since I sold mine I miss the looks. The discount own is now hideous and I want it back.
One thing I did notice is gearing was better for highway and it showed. I easily got 16-18mpg. 18mpg often

That's a nice looking rig.. Both models have the same engine .. Correct?? What about the drive shaft issue? Is it the same as with a stock Disco?

Same engine but the RR was offered with the 4.6. I know it's just a feel but I felt the 99 RR 4.6 was just plain better than the 03-04 disco. I know it's somewhat stupid to say. The truck had 200,000 GREAT ACCELERATION and smooth idle. Never needed headgaskets.

As far as the driveshaft I did change the u joints in my 99. I DON'T remember seeing a double Cardan. So I would say it had the DI style.

When I did my u joints in my DII. That's something ill never forget.

What about the supercharged range rovers? Started in 06 right?

I was thinking the supercharged could tow better than the disco...then again probably be better off with a F250 at half the cost...just love how the range looks...

Also....don't see much activity on the range rover forums section...any problem i have with the disco I can find 100 other people that had the same issue and set by set instructions how to fix it...the range seems like your on your own....
