Default Disco Info

I have been given a 1995 Disco(family heirloom)and up until two days ago it has been a great truck. It has 204,000 miles and up until two days ago it has ran like a top. My plugs are fouling out within a week and i have tried several different brands all with the same result.I had the truck looked at and it is believed that the problem is leaking injectors. Any ideas? advice? before I spend the money on new injectors.

Your injectors aren't all going to just start leaking. What do you plugs look like? Have you had a mechanic scan it for problems, that should be your first step.

Mike i'm a school teacher and the Auto 2 Teacher is the one who checked it out. He is very Good but he's not very familiar with rovers. The display under the seat shows no codes but the check engine light is on, It has been on for years, like i said it's a family heirloom thats has just come into my care. Thetruck over the last year has been hard to crank on occasion, but seems to be geeting more frequent. I use the truck on our hunting club and it gets driven very hard. Can the codes be read if the led display is not funcyioning? other suggestions? Plugs are covered in thick black soot, and it fowled out a set of bosch plus 4's in one week.

What kind of plugs are you running? Grade of fuel? What kind of tune work has been done recently? Cap,rotor, coil?

The Display is out if the light is on and no codes are showing. Not sure if an OBD1 scanner will work or not.

Ask your shop teacher if he can put the truck on a scope and see what is going on.

Mike I took the disco to the shop last week and after repacing the battery the truck has ran perfect for two days no plug fouling. NowI know there is no way the battery solved the problem, but with it running fine the mechanic has no where to go. What could have caused the fowling problem and then just started working? I'm thinking sensors?

A battery on its way out can rob voltage and or current from the Alternator, causing a bit of starvation to the coil, resulting in a weak spark.

Low voltage at the ECU is another problem.
Have some one draw a battery and alternator load test, see what is showing. Should be between 13.6 and 14.4 volts.
