Default Disco Mike Rocks

I'm sorry if this is a repost, but I've got to admit, this is one of the most helpful boards I've visited for any vehicle. Not only is the member support phenomenal, but I was recommended to check out the RAVE manual - whoever created this must be a Land Rover God. It is an stunning contribution to the Land Rover community. Furthermore, after posting on this forum with a few issues and questions, "Disco Mike" PM'ed me his phone number for a personal chat - this has never happened to me before and I'm no newb to internet forums. Though many of the poster's here are extremely knowledgeable, I think gratitude should be paid towards Disco Mike and other cultivated members that contribute mass amounts of incredibly helpful information to the forum.

If you've been assisted by a member with this forum, submit a reply with the name of the member and the helpful advice you have received here; for example:

Disco Mike

Perfrom the 60k (mile) service. E-mail Disco Mike for details:

1 Can Of Brake cleaner
8 Spark Plugs, I use Bosch Platium Plus 4's
1 Set of Magnacor 8mm plug wires

2 Bottles of SeaFoam

60,000 Mile Service or Major Service for High Mileage Used Vehicle just purchased
Bleed the brakes
Flush and change the power steering fluid adding one bottle of additive
Service the tranny adding one bottle of additive
Flush the coolant system
Do an engine flush before changing the oil
Do an induction cleaning
Clean the throttle body
Add fuel additive to full gas tank
Change both of the diffs fluid
Change the t/case oil
Replace the plugs and wires
Replace the air filter
Lube all the drive shaft grease fitting including the 2 slip shafts
Do full inspection of brakes, hoses, bushings etc.

Hopefully I didn't leave anything out.
Disco Mike also recommended the Arnott Industries airbag replacements which I wholeheartedly agree with.

If this post/thread succeeeds, it should contain just about all you need to know about buying/servicing a Land Rover Discovery.

Big words make my head hurt.
I wentto public skool, I have a small vocabulary.
Seriously, I just cant spell to save my life and the spell check has no idea what the hell I am trying to spell so it just comes up with a big "?"
I think that everybody on this forum is a great help, we all bring knowledge from different lines of work, different backgrounds and experiance that when combined we could fill a library.
Not everybody is into their Rover as much as some of us, and that is ok. Not everybody can turn a wrench, and that is ok too.
We can disagree, (DI's ARE better than DII's) voice opinions andjoke around and still be friends at the end of the day.
Bad attitudes, condensending remarks and jokes aside, this is a great forum and that is one of the reasons why I have stuck around.

No particular brand, use full synthetic if you can. Just make sure that you use a major brand not a store brand.

Google the Land Rover Rave Manual. You can download it for free on a few sites. It has the repair manual on it, with a guide to do most anything you want.

IMO, the best way to thank Mike, Spike or anyone else on this or any forum for the information they shared is to pass it on to others. I have learned a lot about my D1 from this forum and everything I know about D2s comes from this forum so I try to pass on that information whenever possible.

Default How to flush?

How do you flush the coolant and power steering to do this 60k mile service?

Also, do you need to flush the transmission?

I am wanting to do this at 90k for my 2003 Disco. Or should I let the dealership do the 90k service?
