Disco mis fire *fix*
had this written up once already but then my 14 month old son hit the F5 key and erased the whole thing, so I will try again.
If you are having O2 sensor and or mis fire codes on your Land Rover 95% of the time the cause is the need for a tune up.
I have a 1997 Discovery with 177,000 miles.
These are the spark plug wires that I used.

I also bought the 7.5" heatshields to go with them, total cost was well under $100.
I bought these spark plugs, I have had great luck with them in my lawnmower, chain saw and snowblower.

The come with a 5 year 100,000 mile warrenty.
Now as for the tune up, take your favorite pen/lube and spray around the base of the old spark plug to aid in its removal.
The emission sticker under the hood will tell you the correct spark plug gap, for a DI with the 4.0 V8 it is 0.32"-0.38", the RAVE repair manual says 0.35"-0.40".
The E3 spark plug comes pre-gapped and cannot be re-gapped.
When you install your new spark plugs put the new plug into the spark plug socket and thread them in by hand until tight, then tighten with your rachet until you feel the crush washer "crush", then tighten just a smidge more.
The Kingsbourne plug wires come numbered so that there is no need to match the length of the new plug wire to the old one, just use the correct numbered wire for the correct cylinder.
Here is a picture of my engine bore the tune up and after.
It was a beautiful day here in West Michigan, the sun was shining and it was a balmy 30*F so i opted to do the tune-up in the driveway.
Total time was about a hour.
I hope that this helps and if anybody has any questions or comments just shout.

The Magnecors may not need the heatshields, and these may not need them either, but I went with them anyway.
These plug wires were $35 for the 8mm, so I went with them to try them out, we will see how well the hold up.
Not everybody can afford the Magnecor plug wires, at $100+ so I am taking one for the team and I will see how well these plug wires hold up.
And dont be knocking my socks, they keep me warm!

Spike- -please shave your knuckles.
How long can one expect a good set of wires to last on these engines (with no socks on)? They are really close to the exhaust manifold.

To answer your question how long good plug wires last without the heatshields...I do not know.
With these wires and the heatshields I fully expect these plug wires to last as long as the plugs, which is 100,000 miles.
So ask me again when my truck hits 277,000 miles.
