Default Disco rear diff

Hi, can anybody help me, I've got a N reg Disco with the oil seal gone, the one on the prop. How do I get the 3 bolt flange off of the diff to replace theoil seal. It looks like there is a screw thread through the center of the flange,If this is an inbuilt puller what thread is it, I live in France and I've tried M6 and M8 and neither fit so is it a AF size or is it distorted in some way? any help will be greatly appreciated

Should be a Rover diff on that year - if by N reg you mean 1996 or there abouts. The flange should be a 4 bolt one, not three - have another look and make sure.

Before you change the oil seal check the following:
1. That you've got sufficient oil in the diff - should be right up to the bottom of the level/filler plug hole while the vehicle is level.
2. That the axle breather is clear and unblocked.

Either of the above can and will push oil out of the pinion seal.

Land rover has a special tool to pull the center dowell to access the flange bolt, and most need to be heated, the factory used some type of white loctite. If you can get a tool or remove the flange dowell, dont just replace the seal. check that your axel breather bolt and tube are clear, most are clogged and actually cause the seals to leak . too much pressure in the axel from no vent. why not check that first ?
