Disco windshield makes it hard to see in rain?
I agree with you guys about the Rain-X and the wax. When the windshield is treated so the water beads up the water will just blow off. For me the real problem is the inside of the windshield. I hate to clean it and if it's not really clean you have to blast the defrost to see out of the thing in cold or humidity. Maybe I'll try some Rain-X on the inside to keep the fogging down. Of course if you smoke in the truck it's worse.
Rain-X, among other manufacturers, make a *separate* product for keeping the inside of your windshield/front windows from fogging up; like their other product, how well it will work depends on how well you apply it -- and the inside of a front windshield is a bitch to work on...
I have had the pitting problem too on my 2002 Disco. I guess its from dust and grime hitting it for years, I have 110,000 miles on it and still had the original OEM windshield. YOur best bet is to just replace it... the glare from the sun was making it dangerous to drive with the pitting. Surprisingly, LR windshields for this model are pretty cheap . I just had one installed for about $250.00
FWIW: the windscreen on my 2000 (now up to 158K or so) is arguably the clearest one I've ever had on a car, freshly and properly washed; no apparent pitting at all.
It's a pilkington, though it may not be the original glass -- I have heated glass, but no *switch*. :-)
