Default DiscoII inspection list.

I'm in the market to buy an '04 Disco and I looking for some help in creating a list of things to check when inspecting a potential buy. I'm more than willing to bring the proper tools along to check for all of the known potential problems indicative to Discos and cars in general.

Thank you!!

I've used Carchx in the past which sends an SAE tech out to instect the car but they don't check plugs, look for head leaks, etc.

The price is good, the location is dry so no rust.
There are plenty of shops that could inspect it for you if you are serious about it.
If you are not familiar with Disco, I would suggest you leave it up to a Rover mechanic.

Buying a used Disco is no different than buying any other used car.
Make sure the cruise works, a/c, etc.
Try everything.

That truck has the 18" rims, not ideal for off roading and anytime you need new tires they will cost more than 16" tires.

The car in Az was picked up at auction, according to the owner. She didn't seem to know anything about rovers or about that truck in particular. The lowest price is not always the best buy. If you don't mind a smoker car, there is a fairly nice 04 in San Diego that I looked at last week. I had a head gasket job by the dealer at 50k, currently has 87k miles. Needs tires in the next 5k to 10k (18 inchers), leaking throttle body heater gasket, leaking transfer case. a click in the front sunroof. The first discovery I have seen with a good headliner! Fades to the left a bit on the freeway. Everything seemed to work. Very clean exterior and nice interior, other than the smoke smell. Has a funky front bull bar. Seller seems motivated, you could probably pick it up for $8500 +/- Listed on Craigslist in San Diego. (I have no affiliation with the truck or the owner) PHil
