The next time it dies, pull over and see if there is fuel pressure on the rail. If it is the spider, it will cut power to the pump and should kill the starter as well. When it died, would it turn over?

Also, I think in late 98/99 they did away with this ..

It turned over fine when it died. That's what it seems like, because there's no spider box. Also yesterday while at autozone pricing a crank sensor and fuel pump, the truck didn't want to start back up. It would start, but run terrible and just die. Eventually I started it up and feathered the gas for a bit and it started running fine. Almost like it wasn't getting fuel... Is the pump in the tank? I've never cared to check.

The pump is in the tank. Access is pretty easy through the trunk. Just pull the carpet and there it is. Have you ever changed your fuel filter? Passenger rear wheel well. $10 and a good start. PS, I have also heard of people having problems with the Autozone fuel pumps.

My fuel pump is from AutoZone.
All they sell are Airtex fuel pumps for Disco's.
Airtex is one of the best brands pumps you can buy.

Well, is it more than likely a fuel pump going bad? I'd much rather not shell out $550, although autozone is the only place I've had one priced. It there anything else I should check before doing so? I'm running out of idea's.

My Boss's RR classic was doing the same thing you are describing. It ended up being the EFI computer and Coil pack... don't know if this helps since it is a different model, but i figured I would share.

That title would have worked just as well. I need to get this thing fixed, I'm trying to look past the fuel pump as I don't have the extra cash at the moment.

The truck died on my three times today within the 150 miles I drove. It only died for about 2 seconds each time. The trucks been running great, other than when it totally loses power.

Any other ideas?
