Default Discovery 1999-2002 front bumper cover

The bumper on our Disco has finally cracked to the point of needing replacement (after I clipped a column in the parking deck). I've looked online and can't find any replacements except one on ebay for $1,500. Does anyone have a good resource for new or used Disco parts. Neither Atlantic British nor Rovers North have them in stock. I also prefer to keep the Disco original so I am not interested in metal winch bumpers.

Also, the latest crack is way to big for a repair I think.

Any help or info is much appreciated!!

It may be hard to source a new one unless you can find one at a wreckyard. I visited with someone over the weekend who had a pristine 2001 Disco. Someone backed into him and cracked his front bumper. He said it was CAN$5K to ship one from the UK to Vancouver and get it replaced. Good thing it was covered by insurance.

There is one on Ebay (Oklahoma) for $1.5K

Or check with Will Tillery who may be closer to you?

Good luck!

I've found the front and now rear bumpers to be very difficult to obtain for D2's in the last 12 or so months. Good luck. Rumor is that they've gone NLA (no longer available / no longer manufactured) and stocks are now depleted everywhere -- even though they show up as "out of stock/backordered". Few years back, I bought a new front bumper for a pre-facelift Disco like yours, and the rear bumpers were definitely avail during the pandemic times.

Thanks @acg and @nashvegas .I called AB yesterday and they told me the company that used to make aftermarket bumpers in the UK went out of business last year. I also saw the one on ebay, but $1,500 is a bit rich since it's not an insurance claim.

I'll contact Will Tillery and see what he has. Otherwise, my wife may just have to deal with me putting on a steel bumper and winch and converting her beloved D2 into an off-roader.

Ouch, yeah- they are starting to get very difficult to get ahold of. I had to scour Facebook marketplace, local wrecking yards, and Craigslist for a year and a half before I found someone willing to part out a front bumper for a good price. Even then it still had a small crack but I was able to try my hand at repair and it turned out pretty well. I cleaned it up and sprayed it all with a rattle can rubberized coating. It’s holding up well after 2 years.

Hi David. I was surprised to find just now that Lucky 8 shows a genuine front bumper cover listed for $990, shipping included.

You've probably found that Atlantic British offers a steel bumper for about half that much ($499.95).

If you have the adrenaline; try adapting/shoehorning a ~1998 Grand Cherokee front. It is inexpensive, relatively abundant, and available new. it may be useable, more pleasant than a hyper expensive brittle unobtanium LandRover or naked front. Come back with findings.

Being at that price new, at a junk place should be like $40; good to try the experiment. Am waiting for mine to end falling by itself to try. I do have the adrenaline.

I replaced my original with a winch bumper and still have the original ('04) bumper, mounting hardware, aluminum crush mechanisms, and one side (don't recall which one) of the plastic bumper cover in Adriatic Blue with the fog lights if it will fit the '99-02 years.

It sad but the cost of an original bumper is twice the price of a good 5 mm /1/4 in steel winch bumper, when mine cracked after a bump at less than 5 mph, I fitted a steel one,

Hi @Overseas Living thanks for the offer of your '04 bumper. I need to do some digging to see how easily it will fit a '01. I'll DM you if I find out it will fit with minimal fettling.

@Externet interesting thought on the '98 Grand Cherokee bumper. I'll dig into that as well. I've also seen a few posts about just removing the bumper cover and painting the metal bumper behind it and leaving it as-is. Some folks have said it looks ok, but I can't find any pics posted..

Thanks for all the feedback folks!
