Default Discovery 2 questions......

Ok guys I have some questions about my rover, it is a 2004 disco 2 with 98000 miles. We just recently acquired it with a blown right side head gasket. The motor was studded and new gaskets, water pump, all cooling hoses were all done last month and it is driving great.

So here it the questions,
. (1) I have read about the front driveshaft rebuild/replacement but can anyone explain to me the signs of the shaft wearing out?
. (2) rear driveshaft flex coupling when should it be replaced?
. (3) I am planning on keeping this rover till it falls apart.( which in It's pristene condition will be quite some time) so with that being said is it recommended to purchase a nanocom to help service the truck and get rid of the damn three amigos and power flush the brake system.
. (4) Is there anything I am overlooking besides a transmission service?
Thanks in advance for any pointers you guys can give me.

Get a driveshaft with zerk fittings and pump grease into it at every oil change. Rear Rotoflex is easy to swap and they honestly hold up very well. If it's severely cracked = replace it. You do not need the Nanocom to power bleed the brakes. 10.00 worth of wire and a toggle switch = you can power bleed the brakes vs a 500.00 scantool/programmer.

My advise is research this forum almost everything has been covered
I would do maintenance first including coolant switch to green , cooling system temperature constantly monitored via ultraguage or similar
new 180 stat

Front drive shaft is very critical. It can get expensive if it fails (can tell you from own experience).

Best, any write up on the cheap power bleed method? First time I'm hearing of this somehow.

This was just after i bought it off a private individual, and no I did not clean it up at all... the only problem is the headliner drooping around the front sunroof.

Yes, ABS pump relay jumper. Do the PCV mod. Pre-emptive radiator and expansion bottle replacement woudl be a good idea. Run 15w40 diesel oil only, FL1-A oil filters. If your headliner is in good shape pull it down and fix the sunroofs or you will wind up needing a new one due to leaks.

Nice! Great purchase. Get an Ultragauge and monitor those temps... Front prop shaft if it hasn’t already been done. They are such fun trucks. Congrats!
