And there is my way :

Discovery I transmission dipstick into Discovery II
From a 2" long; 3/8" NPT nipple as pipe material ( I used brass), one of its threaded ends chased with a M16 x 1.5 metric die (not an easy find, but friendly guys at a Kubota shop had it), fits the oil pan thread....Then a 2" piece of oil duty 5/8" hose section in place, accepts a $5 boneyard Discovery I dipstick tube with 1/8" of its flare end sliced off barely remaining any flare signs left (and collar nut removed),. ....Two clamps on the hose and NOT done yet :
The huge nightmare of putting a screw and nut to hold the support bracket were it belongs rear of block was by far the sweatiest part, taking only that over one hour to accomplish.
Has not leaked a drop in 3 years so far.

It looks quite crude but in fact is quite ingenius and forward thinking. If it works OK why change it as paying for the privilege is pointless at your prices.

We are now in business producing these filling and checking dipstick systems both for the V8 and TD5 both LHD and RHD on the ZF4HP22-24 autbox. I have to finalise the actual costs as yet but the limited production will start this week and the manufacturing will then be transferred to either India or China due to cost for then unlimited production.

I actually need someone to install and test the system on a V8 LHD in the US then take some photos, circa 5-10, and a short report. Any volunteers who are soon changing their ATF?

I'm willing to do it. Definitely can do a review on it. I've just changed the filter, so I need to do one or two more drain and refills to get get out as much old fluid as possible. Let me know.

My D2 has SAI by the way.

Non SAI here and probably should change all of the fluids since I bought it used and have no idea of the history.

Many thanks you guys, wow, I've had so many offers it's fantastic.

All being well I should get the systems in the mail to the US either next week or the week after. Again, many thanks for all your help.

There has been a minor setback, firstly Abran Abeyta was spot on , the D2 autobox fill/level thread is defo M16 and not M17 that I've been working on. Secondly, the freight company I use have deferred for another week so the clips and brackets won't arrive for another couple of weeks.

Life's a bitch but if it all went smoothly how boring life would be
