Unhappy discovery 2004 parking sensor fault

My disco. 2 PDC doesn't work any more. It just emits long beep in reverse. I can hear clicking at four rear sensors.

I have had the problem for a long time, but when I reversed car to an object, it would have short beep. So I ignored it. Right now it seems total failure. Any idea of how to check and fix it? Thanks!

G'day Kai. I to am getting a long beep when first select reverse. I hit an embankment pretty hard whilst in the bush the other week. Have checked the connection on the bumper an all seem to be ok. Did you manage to fix yours or are you still bumping around? Am yet to check the fuses (if is any) an investigate fully.

Just peak under your rear bumper and unplug all of you connections. Give them a good cleaning and make sure the sensors themselves are seated properly. They are spring loaded and twist into place. Then it everything back in and give it a test. If it persists you most likely need new sensors or at least one new one. They are about $60 a piece at Atlantic British. If you don't want to shell out the money right away just go in to the vented access panel in the rear and unplug the speaker.

It is hard to unplug the connections without lifting the car. Later I found when the car is very close to an object, it would have quick beep suddenly, there is no eventually changing tone. It seems the sensors do not function properly.
