Default Discovery Brakelines

Hi All,

My first post on this forum:

I have a 1995 Discovery and the two brakelines that run from the union under the driver's seat to the rear transaxle parallel to the frame have rotted. One is leaking and the other one should be replaced before hydraulic pressure causes it to burst as well. I would imagine these lines would be quiet expensive as an OEM part.

I plan on making replacement lines instead of buying them. Does anyone know what size hard lines (internal, external diameter, etc.) are used on this vehicle and what size fittings are on the ends (diameter, thread-pitch, etc.)? Are the ends double-flared or ISO-flared? Any identifying information would save me the trouble of figuring this out myself. Also, I noticed what appear to be bolts with security torx heads holding the lines in place under the tubular frame cross-member ahead of the gas tank.Do these bolts have security torxheads?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't think anyone knows. Cut a cross section of a good piece and measure it. Use a tap and die set to to get the thread pitch.

My advice. Brake lines are an important safety factor on a vehicle, imo this is not a part I suggest engineering yourself. Just buy em and have the piece of mind that you won't fly off a cliff and die in a fiery crash cause your brake line failed. [sm=forgetit.gif]

Welcome to the forum!! [sm=happybounce.gif]

One other thing. If some of your lines are failing, I would suggest replacing all of your brake lines. Again, try to avoid the whole fiery crash scenario!![sm=smiley18.gif]
