Default Discovery II - New Engine or Rebuild?

I have a 2004 Discovery II SE7 with 114000 miles on it. It is running pretty rough. I've had problems with the O2 sensors and the secondary air system. Other than that the car is perfect. I would love the truck to be faster and have more power, but I don't know what to do or who should do the work. I'm happy to invest money in the project as I love the vehicle. How can I make it the best it can be for years to come? Would be awesome if it were faster and made a great noise.

I know very little about cars, other than I love this truck and want to keep it running and running.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Get your engine in top shape and get those small details fixed. It seems that youre in NY and your state is strict with emissions. Your truck only has 114k and more miles to go.

Yes, get a new engine!
And this should just about meet your needs re: " I would love the truck to be faster and have more power..."

The D2 is not a fast truck, although mine will cruise at 75mph pretty happily -- eventually. There is probably very little that you can do short of invasive surgery on the engine or removing lots of weight from the body that will make more zippy.

I have an '03 SE7 with fresh Turner 4.6 in it. Drives and runs great but it is not fast. https://www.turnerengineering.co.uk/...log.asp?Init=1 Going in to rebuilding my Disco I knew it would never be fast but I sure love driving it 😀

It is running pretty rough.
And wanting it to go faster are ridiculous reasons for considering an o/h or new engine unless there's a known problem and/or you have big bucks burning a hole in your pocket.

If you want a fast car, buy a Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin etc, or if you want a 4x4 then try an LR, Toyota, Mitsubishi or whatever. But be sure, 4x4's aren't racing cars, they are slow whatever make or model. If you make any car quicker by raising the rpm and bhp you make it less reliable. It's that simple.
